Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community has so much to celebrate this summer, especially many cultural programs and agencies have showcased the resilience through their longevity, as well as shared our cultures at every corner in MN.
This summer, we have celebrated:
77th Anniversary of founding of TWIN CITIES CHAPTER Japanese American Citizens League, sponsoring every summer Japanese Obon Festival at Como Park;
50th Anniversary of founding of Cultural Society of Filipino Americans of Minnesota with every summer’s Pamana Philippine Day
50th Anniversary of founding of India Association of Minnesota, sponsoring every summer the IndiaFest;
41st Anniversary of Hmong International Freedom Festival during July 4th weekend;
40th Anniversary of Vietnamese Buddhist Temple – Chua Phat An with Vu Lan Festival every summer;
38th Anniversary of founding of Council on Asian-Pacific Minnesotans;
35th Anniversary of establishment of St. Paul China Garden with Dragon Boat Festival (stopped these few years due to COVID);
35th Anniversary of Cambodian Buddhist Temple – Watt Munisotaram at Hampton, MN;
33rd Anniversary of founding of Korean Service Center;
31st Anniversary of founding of Asian Media Access;
31st Anniversary of founding of Theater MU;
21st Anniversary of Circus Manduhai, leading every summer circus tour to Mongolia;
15th Anniversary of Thai Buddhist Temple – Wat Promwachirayan at St. Louis Park, MN with Thai Sunday Market and MN Songkran Festival during memorial weekend to kick off summer; and
10th Anniversary of KaRen Buddhist Temple,, with every summer’s Wrist Tying Ceremony
